The Jonathan Edwards Center at Gateway Seminary invites you to a lecture in the President's Board Room on October 31 featuring Young Kwang Song.

Song is a current PhD candidate in systematic and historical theology at St. Andrews University under Dr. Steve Holmes. His research is on divine and human freedom in the theology of Jonathan Edwards.

Meet Young Kwang Song

Song earned his BA in theology from Korea Baptist Theological University and Seminary in 2010 on a full scholarship after being selected as a military chaplain candidate. Then he pursued pursued a master of divinity with a concentration in historical and theological studies (2010–2013) at Gateway Seminary, receiving the Bridge Leadership Fund for one year. During his time at Gateway, he worked as a research assistant for Dr. Chris Chun and participated in youth and college ministry at Sonoma Korean Baptist Church.

Then Song joined the Republic of Korea Army as a captain chaplain in 2014. While serving, he was selected for a study-abroad program at the University of St. Andrews from 2021 to 2022. With the support of the Korean Army, he completed a master of letters in systematic and historical theology, writing his thesis on the extent of human freedom in Jonathan Edwards' theology. After returning to work in Seoul for a year, he became a major chaplain and was selected again to pursue a PhD at St. Andrews under the supervision of Dr. Steve Holmes.
