MINISTRY DESCRIPTION
The Worship Pastor of Wylie Baptist Church provides spiritual leadership for worship services and ministries through blended worship. This leadership is accomplished by God’s power from the Holy Spirit through music and prayer, sharing the Word of God, and the good news of Jesus Christ by the use of worship, song, choir, and multimedia presentations. The purpose of this ministry is to help the congregation and community to understand and to experience the love of Christ and to develop a strong foundation of faith in Jesus.
The Worship Pastor works with the church staff and volunteers to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Wylie Baptist Church Worship and Music Ministry and the Vision/Mission Statement of Wylie Baptist Church.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Worship Pastor is to be a born-again believer, acknowledging Jesus Christ as both Lord and Savior, and have an ongoing personal relationship with Him. He should maintain a consistent prayer life and have a consistent daily quiet time. He must meet the Biblical qualifications as outlined in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1. The Worship Pastor will agree with the doctrines found in scripture and supported by the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 of the Southern Baptist Convention. He is to be familiar with, continue to learn about, and be committed to the mission causes of Wylie Baptist Church.
The Worship Pastor shall possess the administrative skills necessary to perform his duties, including the relational-interpersonal skills for working with people of all ages within the congregation. He must be gifted vocally and be able to coordinate instrumental music. He is to be self-motivated, have a teachable spirit to grow as a person and as a leader, and be a strong team player among church staff, working together to strengthen all aspects of the Worship and Music Ministry, and the congregation.
The Worship Pastor is to be ordained, trained Biblically and musically with a bachelors degree in music required and masters degree preferred, but an exceptional experience record will be considered. Ten or more years of blended Worship Pastor experience is preferred. The Worship Pastor is under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor and works in cooperation with the entire staff. He meets weekly with the Senior Pastor/Staff to discuss service themes and other elements to be included within the worship services. He coordinates the Worship and Music Ministry with the calendar and emphases of the entire church. He is to be available to counsel, arrange, provide worship, music and attend special meetings, ministries, and other church related activities (i.e., funerals and weddings) in cooperation with the appropriate individuals or groups.
MINISTRY DESCRIPTION
The principal function of the Worship Pastor is to scripturally model, serve, and lead the body of Christ in worship, discipleship, and outreach through the Worship and Music Ministry of the church.
ADMINISTRATIVE LEADERSHIP
Commit to scriptural and positive relationships and communication with the Senior Pastor and other ministry staff leaders.
Commit to scriptural and positive relationships with deacons, church lay leadership, and general church family.
Develop a long-range vision for the Worship Ministry in conjunction with the vision of the church and establish goals for achieving that vision.
Organize, coordinate, communicate, implement, and evaluate overall worship and music ministry.
Facilitate the budget of the entire worship and music ministry.
Mobilize the necessary resources for the worship and music ministry.
Maintain and supervise equipment and instruments.
Staff and help equip the worship and music ministry leadership.
Coordinate and approve all music for worship, funerals, and weddings.
Attend deacon’s meetings to give updates and report on the Worship Ministry.
CONGREGATIONAL LEADERSHIP
Work with the Senior Pastor and other worship leadership in developing and implementing meaningful worship experiences for the congregation.
Lead the congregation in applying God’s Word through worship.
Coordinate music for special events and other church-wide emphases.
CHORAL LEADERSHIP
Supervise choral ministry development and enlistment.
Supervise development and promotion of age-group ensembles and praise teams.
Be involved in the development of individual musicians through vocal training, input, and discipleship.
Plan, coordinate, encourage church-wide participation in, and/or lead annual and/or semi-annual worship presentations (i.e. Living Christmas Tree and Easter presentations, which may include drama elements).
- CHILDREN
Work with the Children’s Ministry by helping enlist and develop children's choir ministry leadership.
Coordinate with the Children’s Ministry and promote children's choir ministry.
When possible, be personally involved in children's choir ministry.
- YOUTH
When needed, help facilitate the Student Ministry praise team and work with the Student Pastor if a Student Choir is needed or desired.
Encourage students to participate in special programs/presentations.
INSTRUMENTAL LEADERSHIP
Provide training opportunities and resources.
Provide consistent communication.
Coordinate the enlistment, development, and training of instrumentalists.
Coordinate music selection.
Coordinate the scheduling of all instrumental ministry activities.
Manage and oversee musical instruments and their maintenance.
MULTI-MEDIA LEADERSHIP
- Multi-media director and volunteers
Manage and oversee audio, video, and lighting equipment used in worship.
Manage and oversee volunteer schedules for audio, video, and lighting.
Manage and oversee audio, video, and lighting in coordination with the Media Director.
Prepare and input media for services.
Check and prepare stage sound equipment.
Plan light design for worship services and Worship Ministry needs.
Manage and maintain stage presentation.
MINISTERIAL LEADERSHIP
- Pastoral Care
Be aware of the spiritual needs of the ministry area and church as much as possible.
Be consistent in contacting membership (phone calls, texts, emails, and visitation).
Be active in discipleship and encouragement through the ministry and the church.
Be involved in assisting those called to the worship and music ministry, as well as others in the church.
Be prepared to serve and minister in other areas as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
OUTREACH AND MISSIONS
Be involved in visitation and outreach ministries.
Be an active participant when possible in Local Association, State, and Southern Baptist causes etc.
Be actively involved in the community and local missions.
PERSONAL LEADERSHIP

Spend daily time in Scripture, prayer, and seeking the filling of the Holy Spirit.
Spend time mentoring and being mentored for discipleship and disciple making.
