University Christian Church is a Christ-centered and Multiethnic Church community located in the Los Angeles. We are passionate about loving and serving the Triune God and reaching our community with the gospel. We are seeking a ministry-minded finance manager to provide leadership within our finance ministry. We are looking for a person with proven Christian character, competence in finance, (with a knowledge, willingness, and ability to understand the intricacies of church finance), and ministerial chemistry and alignment. We are also hiring for an Administrative position, if the candidate also has administrative skills there is a possibility of combining the administrative position with this role. Location: Los Angeles: In Ladera Heights, Near Culver City and Westchester, CA
Position: Finance Manager
Reports to: Lead Pastor

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. The Finance Manager position is a part-time hourly position of UCC and is anticipated to require about 20 work hours per week.
2. Process payroll for church staff and contractor payments; including quarterly reporting as required by law and issuing year-end W-2 and 1099 forms.
3. Accounts payable; including timely and accurate preparation of checks and online payments.
4. Maintain donor records accurately with timely quarterly and annual reporting to contributors about the status of pledges and other giving.
5. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in specified formats for staff & Finance Team
6. Maintain campaign records and generate reports to the Finance Committee.
7. Support the Finance Team and other church staff to ensure timely campaigns for requesting financial pledges from the congregation.
8. Maintain records of donor specific gifts, ensuring that disbursements are appropriate to donor expectations with accurate and timely reporting.
9. Work with other staff and volunteers to count, record, and deposit weekly offering and all other financial contributions and payments.
10. Maintain endowment records & process transactions as directed by the Board of Trustees.
11. Assist Lead Pastor and Finance Team with preparation of the annual budget.
12. Work with outside auditors for annual financial audit, including implementation of any audit recommendations.
13. Coordinate with clergy requests for benevolence ministries, including record keeping.
14. Maintain confidentiality of information learned and used.
15. Ensure the integrity of the church’s financial operations, maintaining efficient internal controls following the church’s financial policies and procedures.
16. Ensure compliance with State and Federal laws applicable to position responsibilities.
17. Have goals to recruit and train up UCC church members to areas of leading capability, as is appropriate to maintain confidentiality and integrity of finance records. Encourage and challenge spiritual growth in those members.
18. Present potential financial scenarios and outcomes to management team.
19. Collaborate with management on development and execution of funding strategies.
20. Develop or recommend solutions for financial problems or situations.
21. Attend Church Staff meetings as needed or directed by the Lead Pastor.
22. Attend Finance Team meetings as needed or directed by the Lead Pastor.
23. Meet regularly with Lead Pastor to maintain financial transparency and understanding.
24. Meet regularly with Finance Team Elder to maintain financial transparency and understanding.
25. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
General Expectations of a UCC Staff Member:
1. Must be Born again Christian and an active and engaged member of University Christian Church.
2. Must agree to the mission, vision, values and beliefs of University Christian Church.
3. Spends time in daily prayer and regular personal studying/reading of God’s Word.
4. Attends regular worship services and other routine church events, unless approved for vacation.
5. This is a part-time position with an anticipated average of 15-25 hours a week. Most work is expected to be performed at UCC during office hours (Mon-Thu). Subject to change with Pastor approval.
