Position Summary

New Hope Church is seeking a Senior Pastor who will provide our congregation with spiritual leadership, pastoral care, and visionary guidance. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic communicator and a humble servant-leader with a passion for urban ministry and a heart for discipleship. The Senior Pastor will preach, lead worship services, and shepherd a culturally diverse congregation. You will also work alongside our elder board and ministry leaders to advance New Hope’s local and global mission.


Key Responsibilities

- Preaching and Teaching: Deliver biblically sound, relevant, and inspiring sermons that align with New Hope’s mission and values, challenging believers and engaging seekers alike to apply the scriptures to their everyday lives.
- Vision Casting and Leadership: Collaborate with church leadership to further New Hope’s mission of "Connecting people to a life satisfied in Jesus," emphasizing our core values and pillars.
- Discipleship and Community Building: Foster spiritual growth through small groups, one-on-one discipleship, and other ministry opportunities, strengthening the relational fabric of our congregation.
- Pastoral Care: Provide spiritual guidance, counseling, and support to members and families, addressing their unique needs. Facilitate weddings and funerals.
- Evangelism and Outreach: Lead the church in local and global outreach efforts, including partnerships with organizations internationally and various New York City missions.
- Administrative Oversight: Work with the elder board and ministry teams to ensure effective church operations, budget management, and ministry alignment with our values. Lead any church staff.
- Mentorship and Leadership Development: Equip and mentor emerging leaders within New Hope, preparing them for ministry roles and supporting their spiritual growth.


Qualifications

- Spiritual Maturity: A growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated through prayer, Bible study, and Christlike character.
- Educational Background: A seminary degree or equivalent theological education is preferred but not required.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of pastoral experience is preferred but not required, preferably in a multicultural or urban church setting. Experience with church planting or missions is a plus.
- Communication Skills: An effective communicator, capable of connecting with diverse audiences from the pulpit and in personal interactions.
- Cultural Competency: An understanding of and appreciation for New York City’s cultural diversity, with the ability to minister within a complex urban environment.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team with a collaborative and humble approach to decision-making.
- Doctrinal Alignment: Candidates must commit to and uphold the beliefs in New Hope Church’s Statement of Faith and the Baptist Faith and Message. New Hope is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and local Baptist associations. Ministers with experience from other denominations or traditions are welcome to apply if they share doctrinal alignment with New Hope.


Compensation and Benefits

Annual base salary range of $80,000-$90,000, with additional wellness benefits as applicable.
