Role and Responsibilities

The Associate Pastor is the pastoral lead providing direct oversight for Children’s and Youth ministries (birth-12th grade).


General responsibilities of the position:

• Cast vision and provide leadership to Guide the Children and Youth ministries of GCC.
• Provide spiritual oversight to Guard and protect the minds and hearts of the Children and Youth.
• Conduct regular preaching and bible studies to Teach the Children and Youth.
• Plan and execute multiple ministry events throughout the year.
• Recruit and train youth and parent ministry volunteers.
• Serve as the primary contact for Family Ministries.
• Preach GCC worship and ministry gatherings as given opportunity.


General character and theological requirements of the position:

• Must have a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ
• Must be in full agreement with GCC statement of faith.
• Must possess a genuine call and sacrificial commitment to Pastoral Ministry at GCC.
• Must possess advanced, professional communication skills.
• Must maintain a joyful lifestyle of obedience to Christ.
• Must be a visionary and possess the ability to actualize vision.
• Must be a creative problem solver.
• Must have some theological training and in pursuit of an accredited Master of Divinity degree.
• Must possess the ability and desire to lead and strengthen families to know and follow Jesus Christ.
• Must have the knowledge and desire to build community within the church.

This position reports to the pastor and Board of Elders.
