FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH of NESS CITY, KS is currently searching for the new shepherd that God is preparing to oversee our congregation. Our current pastor is retiring after 33 years of faithful service to our church body and community.
NESS CITY is located in central western Kansas. A rural community of 1,400 residents with mostly farming/ranching and oil field as the base industries. Our community has many amenities including; public park, new municipal swimming pool, elementary and high schools, convenience stores, gas stations, bowling alley, restaurants, accountants, insurance agencies, furniture store, grocery store, auto mechanics, lumber yard and hardware store. Additionally there are several retail shopping opportunities. Health services include a pharmacy, county hospital and medical clinic. Ness City is conveniently located within 60 minutes of several larger cities.
FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH was organized in 1900, originally built in 1911 with a large addition constructed in 1985. The original two story structure with sanctuary was remodeled in 1995. In addition to a beautiful sanctuary, the church has a large fellowship hall, kitchen, library, offices, nursery w/playroom, 6 classrooms, and basement game areas. Our congregation has 130 resident and non-resident members with an average worship attendance of 80.
FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of the First Baptist Church shall be the advancement of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ through public worship of God, preaching the Gospel, consistent Christian Living, personal evangelism, promoting missionary endeavors, and Christian education.
PASTOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) prepare and present sermons on Sunday morning; 2) fill the pulpit (approved by deacons) when not able to preach; 3) lead or delegate worship on Sunday morning; 4) ex-officio member of all boards and committees; 5) visit members who are homebound, in local and out of town hospitals, or reside in long term care facilities 6) promote, organize, and delegate responsibilities to carry activities beneficial for the growth of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ through the First Baptist Church and it’s outreach. (examples — bible clubs, youth group, bible studies, vacation bible school, newsletter, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS: 1 Timothy 3:1-7, exceptional Biblical knowledge, upstanding moral character, able/willing to teach sound Biblical doctrine, and be a seminary graduate.
BENEFITS: Salary of $68,400 including retirement plan, in addition to a compensation package covering housing (modern parsonage), health insurance, medical reimbursement plan, and annual 2 weeks paid vacation.
