Overview

Founded in 2008, First Baptist Brandon Christian Academy is a vital part of First Baptist Church of Brandon, serving the greater Brandon and Hillsborough County areas. At this pivotal moment in our history, we are seeking a new Head of School to lead us toward continued growth, academic excellence, and spiritual vitality. Our mission is to provide a Christ centered education which nurtures students to excel academically, socially, and spiritually.

Enrollment: 310 students (2024/2025 school year)

 

Grades: Voluntary Prekindergarten through 8th Grade 

 

Faculty & Staff: 50 members 

 

Budget: $2.3 million 

 

Campus: 6 buildings, with the Academy utilizing 5. This includes our Ministry Activity Center (MAC), which serves both as a gym for physical education and a venue for sports activities. 

 

Accreditations: Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and Cognia (formerly AdvancED)

 

Participation: Florida School Choice Scholarship Programs

First Baptist Church of Brandon exists to glorify God by reaching Brandon and the world for Jesus Christ. We believe the Great Commission (Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:18-20) and practice discipleship, worship, fellowship, evangelism, and mission. The church is pastor led, deacon served, staff equipped, committee supported, congregationally affirmed, all embodying the spirit and biblical example of servanthood.

The mission of First Baptist Brandon Christian Academy is to honor and serve Jesus Christ by providing academic and Biblical excellence for boys and girls while developing their faith in partnership with the home, the church, and the community.

We believe the education of a child is not an end to itself but relates to a much larger purpose of communicating "the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." (2 Peter 3:18)

 

Our total commitment is to develop a preschool - elementary program which is Christ-centered, educationally sound, biblically influenced, welcoming to all, a place of peace, love and joy, and a school which provides equal opportunities to each and every child.

 

It is the prayerful purpose of the First Baptist Brandon Christian Academy to develop the lives of boys and girls to become productive citizens physically, mentally, academically and spiritually. It is also our vision children attending our program/school will succeed in further educational pursuits beyond the grades we offer and be productive workers with a faithful testimony for Christ Jesus within the future work force.

 

The Position

The Head of School will serve as the educational, spiritual, and administrative leader of First Baptist Brandon Christian Academy, reporting directly to the Pastor, School Board, and church. This leader will be charged with continuing to build upon the school’s success, strengthening our academic programs, and maintaining the strong Christian foundation upon which the school was built.

 

Leadership Responsibilities 

1. Spiritual Leadership

Model Christian faith and character in all aspects of leadership.

Ensure biblical worldview integration across all academic programs and school activities.

Cultivate strong partnerships with First Baptist Church leadership, ensuring alignment of the school and church’s mission.

 

2. Educational Leadership

Oversee the curriculum and instructional programs, ensuring they are both academically rigorous and aligned with Christian principles.

Support ongoing professional development of faculty to foster lifelong learning.

Monitor and assess student achievement and growth, implementing strategies for continuous improvement.

 

3. Administrative Leadership

Manage day-to-day operations of the school, ensuring smooth and effective function.

Oversee budget and financial planning, ensuring long-term fiscal sustainability.

Lead the development of the administrative team, fostering collaboration and accountability.

 

 4. Community Leadership

Represent the school to external stakeholders including parents, donors, and local organizations.

Build strong relationships with current and prospective families, ensuring engagement with the school community.

Promote the school’s mission within the broader community, engaging with key local institutions and partners.

 

The Ideal Candidate 

 Qualifications

A strong personal faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to Christian education.

A Master’s degree in Education or a related field (Doctorate preferred).

Five (5) to ten (10) years of educational leadership experience, ideally in a Christian school setting.

Proven success in school leadership, including strategic planning, staff management, and student performance.
