Job Description

General Statement: The student director position oversees ESBC’s student ministry (grades 6th through 12th) to help students discover, trust, and live for Jesus Christ.
Qualifications: The student director must be approachable and create a community within the youth group which will ultimately assist students in their spiritual and social growth and development. He or she must be also able to connect with families and individuals both inside and outside of the church. Spiritual maturity is a must and a thorough understanding of the Scriptures and how they apply to life must be demonstrated (via formal education or self-study, etc.)
Time commitment/week:
Sunday morning: 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM sit with youth in service and oversee a youth breakout time from 11 AM - 12 noon = 3 hours if you include set up, etc.
Sunday evening: 6 PM - 7:30 PM youth gatherings = 3 hours if you include set up and clean up
Prep time, meeting with students and volunteers throughout the week.: 8
Mandatory staff meeting with Pastor and staff on 1st and 3rd Thursday each month:
Averages to 1 hour/week

Total Hours/week = 15
Specific Responsibilities for Student Ministry:
• Create vision, strategy, and direction for the student ministry
• Actively lead middle and high school students toward Christ
• Build relationships with East Side youth and their families
• Develop a plan to help students move from 6th to 12th grade
• Foster community within the ministry and connect youth with the overall church
• Communicate and spend time with students outside of Sundays
• Create opportunities for students to get together and learn about Jesus (events, meals, gatherings, etc.)
• Communicate effectively with parents/families and meet regularly with volunteer leaders
• Oversee the teaching responsibilities for the middle and high school programs, but this means empowering other volunteer leaders to assist with teaching, etc.
• Recruit volunteers, interview, train & oversee adult volunteers who can assist in the ministry (e.g., facilitate bible studies and one-on-one discipleship)
• Attend and participate in bi-monthly staff meetings.
