Celebration Church Marriage and Family Pastor Job Description
Celebration Church is seeking a full time Marriage and Family Pastor to minister in Montrose, Colorado to families and their children ages birth through teens. Celebration Church currently averages 500 people in two worship services. We average about 45 children in Celebration Kids per week, but that number is increasing weekly. We are seeking to expand to a new building to accommodate our rapid growth. Celebration Church is a church committed to making disciples who make disciples of Jesus Christ. Celebration is committed to our discipleship model through Celebration Groups, and Discipleship classes.
Celebration Church is currently running these ministries through teams of volunteer leadership, but we have grown to a place where additional oversight and support is needed for these teams. We strive for our church volunteers and staff to have well balanced ministry responsibilities that lead to healthy families and longevity in the ministry. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Qualifications:
• The Discipleship Pastor must meet the qualifications of 1st Timothy 3 & Titus 1
• A mature relationship with Jesus Christ that is clearly exhibited in the Pastor’s life.
• A pastoral heart and love for people.
• A heart that is aligned with Celebration Church’s core values, especially in the areas of unity, discipleship, and service.
• 5 years of experience in Children’s and/or Youth Ministry
• Agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
• Background check and Ministry Safe training required.
• Biblical counseling training and experience with ACBC or other like-minded institutions preferred.
• Seminary Degree or other theological training is preferred.
Responsibilities:
The Marriage and Family Pastor is responsible for:
● Leading children’s discipleship by guiding the kids ministry curriculum and training of volunteers.
● Pastoring and training youth group leaders to disciple teens both on Sunday mornings and during the week.
● Strengthening marriages by individual/couples counseling, and discipleship teaching and programs including pre-marital counseling.
● Teaching and/or organizing parenting discipleship classes including teaching parents to disciple their children.
● Leading families to participate in Celebration Groups.
● Encouraging family participation in worship services and ministry volunteer service.
● Planning and executing student activities in addition to weekly gatherings.
● Attending summer Youth Camp with students and adult leaders. This includes working with the Youth Camp Coordinator.
● Periodically preach Sunday morning, special events, and community events as needed.
Relationships:
• The Marriage and Family Pastor takes direction from the Lead Pastor and serves at the unified consensus of the Oversight Team (Elders). The Marriage and Family Pastor will join the Oversight Team and play an equal part in leadership of the church alongside the other Elders.
• The Marriage and Family Pastor will work with the Pastoral and Elder team as well as the administrative staff. The staff and elders often fill roles that are outside of their job descriptions for the good of the church.
• The Marriage and Family Pastor leads the Celebration Kids (nursery and elementary age) teams and the Youth Team.
• Working in close collaboration with the Volunteer and Events Coordinator.
• Working in close collaboration with the Vacation Bible School Director.
